The media's obsession over bikini body perfection has influenced the aspirations of many women and girls. Some of the main attributes of the perfect bikini body include perfectly shaped breasts and an ample cleavage. Pictures and video of celebrities exhibiting these attributes of perfection are ubiquitous. There seems to be ever increasing pressure on these celebrities to achieve new levels of perfection from the media and expectation from the public. It is no surprise then that celebrity plastic surgery is becoming more popular, in particular breast enlargement surgery. Since these celebrities are often role models for others, it leaves more and more women and girls feeling unhappy with their own breasts. The bar is raised. In response, women may turn to cosmetic surgery to make themselves feel happier about their breasts, their body and themselves. Due to the affordable price of today, cosmetic surgery is not just for celebrities. Are we stuck in some kind of socially fuelled positive feedback loop of ever increasing higher expectations for perfect breasts?

Although many celebrities do have cosmetic surgery for breast enlargement, there are the typical tricks of the trade that they use to enhance the appearance of their breasts and cleavage. The Celebrity "DD Cup" Breast Size Factor

Have you noticed how often the media quote various ample breasted celebrities as being a DD cup? Not D cup, not F cup but DD cup. As long as they have an ample breast the media often seems to quote a DD cup, regardless of what size the celebrity actually is!

For some reason, the DD cup seams to be the magical size that defines the ample, large breast. If you are considering breast enlargement surgery and trying to determine what you would like your new target breast size to be, then looking at pictures of celebrities and using their bra size to guide you, is not recommended. There are a number of reasons why:

• Women have different body shapes and body frames and even though your bra band size may be similar to that of a celebrity's, the same cup size may not be as suitable for your body frame. Also, don't forget that a D cup in a 38" bra is bigger than a D cup in a 32" bra.
• The celebrity's breast size may be reported incorrectly.
• If it is reported correctly, then the celebrity may not actually wear the correct bra size. See our guide on how to measure bra size.
• The celebrity may be wearing a breast enhancing bra (e.g. push up bra) in the pictures you are viewing.
• The possibility of airbrushing on the pictures you are viewing.
